The #1 Secret To Quitting Any Addiction

Addictions, vices, bad habits…whatever you wanna call them.
Everyone’s got something they’re trying to cut out of their life to better themselves.
It could be something serious like drugs or cigarettes, or something like wasting too much time playing video games.
Either way, this 1 mindset hack is the best secret I know to quitting anything cold turkey.
Mental Rebranding
I call this the Mental Rebrand Trick, and the premise is pretty simple.
You’re going to mentally “rebrand” your identity into the person you want to become.
This can be done using mantras and meditation, but if you’re strong enough mentally you’ll be able to do this just through sheer determination and positive thinking.
An example would be if you’re trying to quit smoking.
Instead of thinking, “It’s been 100 days since I’ve last smoked”, think “I’ve never smoked” instead.
Literally say it out loud multiple times a day with conviction. Say it to your friends randomly in conversation. By speaking it with conviction, you’re making it real.
By believing you’re simply NOT a smoker, you don’t even think about the last time you smoked, or if you can have a smoke because it’s your birthday.
And THAT’s what makes this the only way to truly quit anything.
Because if you REALLY want to quit something, you’ll live and act like it doesn’t even exist to you.
Try this if you’re having a hard time getting to the gym, for example.
Instead of thinking, “I went to the gym 2 days this week, hopefully I can keep up the streak”, think “Just another day at the gym, same time tomorrow”.
How To Do A Mental Rebrand
The easiest way to shift your mindset into a mental rebrand is simply by speaking out loud.
You can use powerful mantras to start believing you’re the person you want to become.
Here are some examples:
“I’ve NEVER missed a day at the gym and never will”
“I can’t believe I read one book every week, I just can’t get enough reading”
"I’ve meditated every morning for years, and nothing can break that routine."
“I don’t smoke. I’ve never smoked. Why would anyone even smoke?”
There have been several studies proving the effectiveness of mantra-based meditation (MBM) for mental health.
The simple repetition of words or phrases (either silently or aloud) has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, post-traumatic stress, and improve mental health-related quality of life.
I suggest repeating phrases like these while you’re in the shower or right before bed. The shower is good so you have privacy and can focus on your thoughts, and before bed is good to sink the message into your brain before resting.
How This Ties Into Manifestation
I’m all about manifesting money.
And manifestation has plenty of proof behind it, whether you believe in it or not.
Look at it from 2 angles:
1.) Manifestation is real and you can attract positive things through positive energy and intention
2.) Manifestation isn’t “real”, but you achieve results through a “placebo effect” and gain success by being more optimistic and forward thinking
Either way, this shit works.
Just like with building muscle. You can try all sorts of training methods…from high rep stuff like German Volume Training to heavy powerlifting methods like Bulgarian Weightlifting, all that really matters is that you’re stressing the muscle fibers.
So with constant positive thinking and reaffirming that you are now a non smoker, or a gym rat, or someone who now loves doing hard work, you can certainly manifest your reality into the desired one.
It’s similar to “fake it till you make it”, although this method requires you to truly believe you’ve already made it, by thinking you’re “faking it” til you make you’d actually be doing it wrong.
Don’t fake it, just believe it and BE it.
The BMM Takeaway
Don’t lie to yourself. You’ve got at least 1 thing you need or want to cut out of your life.
As a man it’s your responsibility to optimize your own life and be your best self.
And the only person who can fix your character is YOU.
So I want you to embrace this mindset of “being” rather than “trying to be”.
It’s like faking it til you make it, but with that added conviction and belief.
Speak it out loud, repeat it over and over, and I swear you’ll start feeling and acting like the person you want to be.
TLDR (Too Long Didn’t Read)
Mental Rebranding: Adopt a new identity aligning with your goals, using positive affirmations.
Mantras and Determination: Utilize mantras or sheer willpower to reinforce your new identity, like "I've never smoked" or "I always go to the gym."
Effectiveness of Mantras: Studies show mantra-based meditation (MBM) aids in mental health, reducing anxiety, stress, and improving life quality.
Implementation: Practice mantras in private moments like showering or before bed for better focus and internalization.
Manifestation Concept: Whether through actual manifestation or a placebo effect, consistent positive thinking can lead to desired behavioral changes.
Embracing the New Self: Speak your new identity into existence, reinforcing it through repetition and belief, moving beyond "trying to be" to "being."
